Update webfans - Ok I've bought a slide scanner, now the only problem this section has are my doubts about the future of painting!…

'Beginning to think that use of programmes such as 'photoshop' are pointing the way the media will go. I think photography and painting have been more closely tied in the past than most would like to believe anyway. With the widespread adoption of digitizing, you'd be a fully paid up member of Luddite and Co. to keep them 'separate'.

My problem is that I trained innitially in photography, then in painting, yet have always been happy to keep them separate! It's hard to abandon a skill that I did, after all, get a 1st class degree studying and has played a part in keeping me in work for 10 years. I don't want to turn into some sort of 'filter pluggin' of nature, but neither am I prepared to turn into some sort of heritage attraction.

I hope to look for someway forward through my Cosford residency...(feedback appreciated)

For now here's some stuff I did before I was worried about it!

The paintings shown include relatives and the commissioned series for Tate/Potteries Museum Partnership. The six images mounted together are the final show piece.

The older man was exhibited with the Royal Society of Portrait Painters, and that particular story was picked up by the Guardian newspaper (will look that cutting up....
