'Drawing Station' involved the 200 odd child participants of Newcastle-u-Lyme Summer Playschemes programme.
I designed the project and built the display box/workstation primarily from the scrap pile of the Apedale heritage centre.
Fellow artist Joanne Ttikkorou was recruited, and we both led line drawing workshops on 'heritage' subjects for Under 11's, such as penny farthings and phones with cords!
Resulting drawings were scratched by the children into purpose cut perspex strips. These were later assembled into a unit lit with integral HF tube lighting designed to make the drawings glow.
The cost of the project was in excess of £4000 and was met by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation and the Borough Council.
